Shamla according to some sources is a name derived from the SH-M-L Quranic root that means "breeze", "air". This word however does not exist in any of the respected Arabic dictionaries, and we cannot find any trustworthy sources for it. Shamla is pronounced [(SHU)t + (M)oon] + [(LA)nd] with emphasis on the second syllable.
