    Assalamu alaikum,

    I would like to know if the name May/Mae is permissible to use for a Muslim girl. Does it have any meaning in Arabic?

    وَعَلَيْكُم ٱلسَّلَامُ

    I have the name Mae, I am a Muslim Egyptian American, I have yet to find the name in the Quran, however, I was told the Arabic meaning is little monkey or little gazelle. In other origins the name means beautiful or peace.
