I loved the name Liyana but I can't find it anywhere in the Quran which means softness/ tenderness. is it ok if I choose a name for my baby out of the quranic text as long as the meaning is good and sensible?
Answer
Liyana (LEAn + YArd + NUmber) is another version of the name Linah (LEAn + NUmber). Liyana itself is not mentioned in the Quran but two words closely related to it and derived from the same root are mentioned in the Quran, for this reason you can consider Liyana a Quranic name as well.. Linah is mentioned in 59:5. Another version (Layyin) is also mentioned in 20:44.
Another version of this name is Layyinah, pronounced as LAY + YI(eld) + NU(mber).
Leen is also another popular version of the name.
Yes you may use any name taken from the Quran if it has a good meaning inshAllah.
