Meaning of Hassan
Hassan is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “very handsome”, “very goodly”, “very good-mannered” when derived from the H6-S-N (beauty) Quranic root. It could also mean “very perceptive” when derived from the H6-S-S (perception, feeling) Quranic root. It is most commonly derived from the H6-S-N root, which is also the root for other common names like Hasan and Hussein. This root is used in many places in the Quran.
Hassan was the name of the poet of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his companions, whose full name was Hassan bin Thabit.
Below are two examples of Quranic verses with the H6-S-N root:
We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. (Quran 29:8)
And thereupon her Sustainer accepted the girl-child with goodly acceptance, and caused her to grow up in goodly growth, and placed her in the care of Zachariah. Whenever Zachariah visited her in the sanctuary, he found her provided with food. He would ask: “O Mary, whence came this unto thee?” She would answer: “It is from God; behold, God grants sustenance unto whom He wills, beyond all reckoning.” (Quran 3:37)
