Full Meaning of Abeey
Abeey is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “one with much refrain”, i.e. someone with much self-respect who refrains from doing base and purposeless actions. There is a similar word in Arabic that means “my father” and in English it can be spelled as Abeey as well, the two are distinguished by emphasis: Abeey, the name, has its emphasis on the second syllable (as in Abeeyyy), while Abeey (“my father”) has the emphasis on the first syllable.
Abeey is derived from the A-B-A root (“to refrain”) which is used in many places in the Quran.
Verily, We did offer the trust [of reason and volition] to the heavens, and the earth, and the mountains: but they refrained from bearing it because they were afraid of it. Yet man took it up – for, verily, he has always been prone to be most wicked, most foolish. (Quran 33:72)
