Full Meaning of Amre
Amre is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “life”, “to enliven”. It is the name of famous companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his companions, whose full name was Amre bin al-Aas, who was one of the noblemen of the Quraysh tribe who ruled Makkah. Amre is derived from the Ain-M-R root which is frequently used in the Quran.
And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy. (Quran 35:11)
