Asjad is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means "one who prostrates constantly to Allah", "one who spends a lot of time in worship". It is derived from the S-J-D root ("to prostrate") which is used in many places in the Quran.

Have they not observed the things God has created, casting their shadows right and left, prostrating themselves before God in all humility? (Quran 16:48)
