Full Meaning of Cawkab

Cawkab means “star” or “planet”. In modern Arabic textbooks the word Cawkab is reserved for planets, while the word najm is used for stars.

So when the night covered him [with darkness], he saw a star/planet. He said, “This is my lord.” But when it set, he said, “I like not those that disappear.” {6:76}
