Full Meaning of Dhahabb

Dhahabb (also written as Dhahab and Dahab) means “gold” (the precious metal). When used as a name, it implies:

  • Purity

  • Wealth

  • Inner and outer beauty

  • High value

  • Nobility and rarity

In Arabic poetry, gold is frequently used to describe a beloved’s face or character.

Dishes and goblets of gold will be passed around them with all that their souls desire and their eyes delight in. (43:71)

“Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers – never would the [whole] capacity of the earth in gold be accepted from one of them if he would [seek to] ransom himself with it. For those there will be a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.” (3:91)

“Those will have gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.” (18:31)

“Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearl, and their garments therein will be silk. And they had been guided to good speech, and they were guided to the path of the Praiseworthy.” (22:23-24)

“And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, ‘O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me? Then do you not see? Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear? Then why have no gold bracelets been placed upon him or come with him the angels in conjunction?'” (43:51-53)

“‘Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness.’ Circulated among them will be plates and cups of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally. And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.” (43:70-72)
