Salam o laikum, Kindly advise me regarding the name "Muhtad". I have read it in Sura Al Kahf verse No. 17 "may yahdillahu fahua Al-Muhtad". Some people are telling me that I cannot use it as a name because Muhtad is not grammatically correct. They are saying the correct one would be Muhtadi. I prefer to name my baby boy "Muhtad" not Muhtadi, please advise if I can use it as a name even if it is not 100% grammatically correct.

Alaikumassalam wa rahmatullah,
Muhtad is an acceptable name. It is used by many Arabs as a name. It is not grammatically standard, but this is not an issue because most Arabic names are non-standard, for example Zidan, which is a popular name that doesn't follow grammatical rules.
