Meaning of Jamil
Jamil means beautiful. While it means both beauty in shape and beauty in behavior, the Quran uses it only to refer to beauty in behavior, graciousness, and admirable manners. It is mentioned six times in the Quran.
And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Prophet Ya`qub] said, “Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so a beautiful patience is my duty [it can also be translated as ‘and patience is beautiful’]. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe.” (12:18)
He said, ‘Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting/beautiful. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.’ And he turned away from them and said, ‘Oh, my anguish over Joseph,’ and his eyes became white from grief, and he was [of that] a suppressor [of grief]. (12:83-84)
Prophet, say to your wives, ‘If your desire is for the present life and its finery, then come, I will make provision for you and release you in a beautiful way.’ {33:28}
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. So be patient with gracious patience. Indeed, they see it [as] distant, but We see it [as] near. (7:4-7)
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [and wealth], and allow them respite a little. (73:8-11)
And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. Indeed, your Lord, He is the Knowing Creator. (15:85-86)
