Shahvar is a Persian name that means "excellent", "sublime", "superb". Its literal meaning is "worthy of a king", "kingly", it made up of shah (king) and vaar (of, worthy of, like). It is a common last name in Iran, and is used a first name for both boys and girls. It is written as شاهوار in Farsi and can also be written as Shahvaar, Shaahvar, Shahwar, Shahwaar in English. It is pronounced [(SHA)rp + (H)ot] + [(VA)st + p(R)ay]. The v sound can also be pronounced as a w.

Shahvar is not an Islamic name, but Muslims can use it since it has a good meaning.
