Sharam, also written as Shahram, is a name of Persian origin. The roots of Sharam go back to ancient Pahlavi origins and is formed from Shah (king) and Ram (angel), together they mean "archangel", which refers to the angel Mika'eel (Michael in English), mentioned in the Quran and the Bible. Thus Sharam is the Persian word for Michael.
Since it is allowed in Islam to use the names of angels, Sharam is an acceptable name for Muslims.
Sharam can be pronounced in two different ways. Either as (SHA)rp + (RA)n + (M)an, which can be written as Sharam or Sharaam, or as (SH)ape + r(U)n + (H)ill + (RA)n + (M)an, which can be written as Shahram, Shahraam, Shehram or Shehraam.
