Meerab is a Farsi word that means water-master, a person whose job is to regulate the flow of a small river in a farming area so that each farm gets its share of water. It comes from Mir (king, master, ruler), which itself comes from Arabic Emir, and Ab (water in Farsi).

Meerab is also a village in Yemen.

It is not an Islamic name but since the meaning is not bad Muslims can use it, both for girls and boys.
