Meaning of Shahab
Shahab is an indirect Quranic name for boys that is often a variant of Shihab, which means “shooting star”, “meteor”, and it is used mostly by non-Arabs instead of Shihab. Even though Shahab is not a standard Arabic name, it is an acceptable variant of the Shihab and both names can be used interchangeably.
Shahab is also an Arabic word that refers to diluted milk, milk with water added to it. Shahab can also be a Persian word that means “the King’s water”, which refers to a red juice made from Safflower. It is unlikely that the name Shahab comes from either of these words.
