Liya (Liyaa’ actually) means a land far from water. Liya is also a type of bean that is very white, and when it is said about a woman “she is like liya” it means she has very white skin. Liya is also a valley in at-Ta’if, a city near Makkah in Saudi Arabia.
Liya is not mentioned in the Quran, neither directly or by root. But since the meaning is acceptable, inshAllah you can use it to name your baby.
Liya is pronounced as (LI)p + (YA)rd.

Liya is the name of first wife of Prophet Yakuub(A). His second wife’s name is Rahela (Euprpeans call it Rachel). Yusuf and Benyamin are the sons of Yakuub+Rahela, whereas Liya+Yakuub(A) had 10 sons and 1 daughte. Those 12 sons made 12 sects of Bani Israil. By the way, Liya and Rahela were sibling sisters. In that time of Yakuub, it was not prohibitedand completely accepted to marry both sisters,,same time.
And, Liya and Rahelas father Loban was Yakub (A) s maternal uncle. So, both Liya and Rahela were Yakuub(A) s maternal cousin sister.
