What is the meaning of name Simrah? is it islamic name?
can you provide reference for meaning of name. Muslims can keep this name or not?
Answer
There is no Arabic/Islamic name sounding like that that I know of. Where did you hear of this name? It's likely another name mispronounced. A pakistani website had written "Simra" and I looked at it and they actually meant "Thamarah" which means fruit, benefit.
You may use Thamarah (also spelled as Samara, Samra), and it is a good Quranic name directly mentioned in the Quran (in 2:25).
Names that sound close to this: Samirah: Late night conversation. Samraa: A type of wheat, A person with tan colored skin. Sumra: The shaded part of the moon, tan (very light brown) color in skin. Thamraa (some may write it as Samraa, note that it is NOT Thamara): A tree bearing a lot of fruit, something beneficial and successful.
All of these can be used as names for girls and all of the roots of these words are mentioned in the Quran.
