    Farees (فريس) means “something that has been killed or slaughtered”. It is not a good name and should be avoided.

    al-Rayyan bin Sabira al-Hanafiy was a Tabii (one of the Tabiun), who were Muslims who were born after the death of the Prophet (PBUH), but who met and learned from the companions of the Prophet.

    The most famous of the Tabi`un are al-Hasan al-Basri and Imam Abu Hanifah.

    It depends on how she pronounces it. If pronounced Raayaa, it is a Persian name: Raya

    If she pronounces it as [(RA)ndom] + [(YU)mmy] with emphasis on the first syllable, it becomes an Arabic name meaning “flag”, “banner”.
